Insatiable Appetite For Violence

Insatiable is one half of this autumn's biggest chart rivalry. The first single to come from Nadine Coyle's similarly titled upcoming album arrives with a notable challenge.

For those that read Heat magazine, a quick summary of the climate surrounding this release is unnecessary, however for completeness, here it is;

↳ Girls Aloud come into existence
↳ Girls Aloud have great Chart success
↳ Cheryl Cole leaves Girls Aloud to pursue solo career
↳ Cheryl Cole has even greater Chart success
↳ Girls Aloud split up
↳ Girls Aloud express interest in reforming
↳ Nadine Coyle claims to be unaware of plans for the group to reform
↳ Turns out they never told her
↳ Nadine hates Cheryl
↳ Cheryl hates Nadine
↳ All the girls hate Nadine
↳ Nadine plans release of new comeback single
↳ Cheryl Cole plans release of new single (Promise This)
↳ Both are released on exactly the same day
↳ Girls Aloud listen to them on the radio

Needless to say, this new single from Nadine needs to be pretty good or she'll have egg all over her face - and that's just not kosher. Well it i..... you can see where that's going

Fortunately for her, miss Coyle's done pretty well - the song's catchy with a bit of edge from the guitars that we've become used to in female pop hits of late (think Rihanna, Diana Vickers etc).
The lyrics aren't so catchy however, but this shouldn't deter really.
One thing that puts our intrepid upstart at a disadvantage is the low potential for club plays, with a song that doesn't really lend itself to dancing, especially when compared to releases from Rihanna.

But let's face it, Nadine's not up against Rihanna Diana, or JLS, she's gunning for Cheryl, and having heard Promise This, expect a close run into the Charts
