</div></div><div class="MsoNormal"><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div></div><div class="MsoNormal"><div style="text-align: center;">Since first listening to the dub infused track “NY is killing me” way back in Nov/ Dec 2010 we definitely knew that Jamie xx had been cooking up something big behind closed doors. Remixing the Gil Scott Henderson Album “I’m New Here” The XXer has produced something that is nothing short of magic.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
The sound of this album is as hard as it is easy to explain, being a cross between; Dubstep, jazz, two step, house, soul, hip hop and electro house. This range seems to be something that was aimed for with this album which was made by a variety of sounds which incorporated; synths, loops, drum machines, guitars, samples, drum kits and of course Gils vocals. I would be lying if I said there was no XX influence or sound to this album, but there is only a hint of that with the rest oozing originality. Starting from the end and working back, on the last track (and most recent one put up on the website) “I’ll Take Care of you” The piano gives the 90’s house feel which is backed by a heavy dub drumbeat. Simple enough to start off with but it morphs into an electro house romp with the guitar melody echoing flawlessly over the samples, loops and synths. <br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/PaXslpx3MWY" title="YouTube video player" width="640"></iframe><br />
<br />
Heavy beats and melodic instrumentals line each and every track, giving a new life to the contrasting gravelly vocals provided by Gil. This odd couple, strangely, make a beautiful pair that seem to effortlessly bring something fresh and new to the table. This is simply done by the uniqueness of all the remixes on the album, and the diversity which follows each track.<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/W7c3wRzUUjs" title="YouTube video player" width="640"></iframe><br />
<br />
Jamie xx has done quite a few popular remixes which have brought him more and more to the fore and with his production on the Mercury prize winning self titled album for his band the XX, this has more than shown his ability on both sides on the music fence. Remixes of; Florence and the machine, insert name here and insert another name here have been very popular in both the club and mainstream scenes. Being the man behind the production, decks and the drum machine in the XX also is a bonus when venturing out into the wild as a one man band as his skills shine through. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvRYjwVkgnzQy-7NQponOoL2nc_uRjc1YyhSpEhGnnb-lvFzzuEOM1w_DIHxeiQgfN49eKzVIXYDPSZGRfyUOMSNusOQdFw4iok5XZCfHQe3Ghajb3BKcoX2RxQAJfEkfBFXfqWhV2EGMX/s1600/JAMIE_XX_PIC_1291038212_crop_380x300.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="252" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvRYjwVkgnzQy-7NQponOoL2nc_uRjc1YyhSpEhGnnb-lvFzzuEOM1w_DIHxeiQgfN49eKzVIXYDPSZGRfyUOMSNusOQdFw4iok5XZCfHQe3Ghajb3BKcoX2RxQAJfEkfBFXfqWhV2EGMX/s320/JAMIE_XX_PIC_1291038212_crop_380x300.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Overall this is a welcomed introduction to one of the UK’s bright talents which are coming through, with Jamie not riding purely on the XX sound he brings his own which has far more bass and rhythm however he still keeps the same melodic aura of his band. This album is a musical treat for anyone, it’s not mainstream, it’s not typical stuff you would hear on the radio, its real music that will excite your senses. All I can say is if you enjoyed the first two tracks up the website go and get the album, it’s a real treat. Trust me.<br />

</div><div style="text-align: center;">A sweet four shot of drum and bass, Dubstep, Jamican dub and jungle, the Shy FX Raver EP is an essential FREE download for this year. The Orignial title track featuring Kano, Donae'o and Roses Gabor, coming fresh off the digital Soundboy record Label, sees shy return to top form in this drum and bass hit. </div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;">The drum and bass pioneer hits us up with; fast paced beats that are worked well with kano's spitting and Donae'o's vocal talent, which are then mixed up with a carnival-esque sounding ending. Remixes from MJ Cole, breakage and shy himself exploit the different elements of the song e.g. mj cole's hard dubstep remix. you can download the full EP off of the site here: <a href="http://www.digitalsoundboy.com/freedownload.html">http://www.digitalsoundboy.com/freedownload.html</a> I would definitely recommend downloading this in the meantime as we anticipate Shy FX's album, due to be released in 2011. </div><div style="text-align: center;">The fuzzy haired production/DJ genius behind the XX, Jamie smith (working under the name of Jamie xx), is bringing out a eagerly awited EP "We're New Here" A 13 track reworking of Gil Scott-Heron's "I'm New Here". From the first track that has been revealed this Album is looking to be a banger!</div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"> Jamie xx's reworking of 13 tracks from the Gil Scott-Heron "I'm New Here" sessions is the basis of his new Album, which is gonna be aptly called "We're New Here". The XX man behind the decks has been doing remixes for while as well as producing a mercury prize winning album the XX. Now going solo he looks set to take on the dubstep/electronica world by storm with his new album. Only having this track and a few of his remixes to go by 2011 looks it'll be a good year for the XXer and his album may be one to watch out for.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

</span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This creative (if a little obsessive) video inspired by a compilation of Marina and the Diamonds songs was made by a particularly artistic fan hoping to bring international fame to the singer.</span><br />
<a name='more'></a><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> </span></div><br />
<object height="505" width="853"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/bV3VRzFtZYA?fs=1&hl=en_GB"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/bV3VRzFtZYA?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="853" height="505"></embed></object><br />
<div class="MsoNormal"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Being Marina and the Diamond’s number one fan, I’d like to think that she will reach international fame due to the richness and depth of her voice, her insightful lyrics and her catchy tunes, not a group of women dancing in leotards (an element of the video I was slightly confused about). Nevertheless, I really like this video. It appeals to my love of costumes, make-up and fairytales and has been timed beautifully with some of Marina’s most popular songs (I also give extra kudos for not seeing a glimpse of “Hollywood” anywhere). </span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">From an artistic point of view I especially love the opening Alice in Wonderland scenes and the freeze-frame effects of the characters at the Mad-hatter’s tea party. The outfits and character make-up are stunning, and separate this video from an amateur attempt of simply dressing a bunch of girls up in tutus and making them dance around against a blank backdrop (again... why?) The storyline takes well-known fairy-tales and puts a feminist “screw you Prince Charming” twist to them, which I feel is tongue-in-cheek enough to not seem cheesy or cliché.</span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">There has obviously been a lot of effort put into this video but with 61,504 views and, apparently, the lady herself mentioning it on her YouTube channel, it has definitely paid off. </span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />

Unfortunately, don't expect a high chart position (think top 10, not number 1) based purely on the lessening of Eminem's role - he's just got the one, not all the verses. It's impossible not to like this song, but without the huge support Eminem's fanbase gave his track, combined with this being almost a re-release of a song that's only just disappeared from the Top 40, sales will invariably be lower.</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px;">In the next month we see the debut of Essex Girl Jessica Cornish AKA Jessie J, with her debut single Do it Like a Dude, which will be released in the UK 2nd January 2011. There's a lot riding on this track, so is it any good?</span></span><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; font-size: 13px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Jessie J is definitely one to watch in the next year as she brings something a bit different to the UK music scene. People may not of heard of Jessie J before but she as been making movement within the music industry for a while as she has co-wrote with Doctor luke the number 1 US song Party in the USA for Miley Cyrus, her song ‘sexy silk’ was featured in the hit film easy A. She is now signed to Island Records in the UK and Lava records in the US which is under the Universal Music group. Therefore, her music will not just be pumped into UK households, the Yankees will be experiencing the ghetto and soul of Jessie J aswell, not many UK acts have been able to say their debut album will be released Worldwide.</span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; font-size: 13px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; font-size: 13px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; font-size: 13px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I must say she has a lot of ghetto swagga for an Essex girl which can be seen in her songs, for example she sings ‘do it like the mandem, mandem’. Do it like a dude is a fun track that will most definitely be a club banger here in the UK, especially for the ladies - the song is a feel good track that indicates that women can do what the mandemalem do. This is seen in the chorus ‘do it like a brother, do it like a dude, grab my crotch, wear my hat low like you’. This song has a lot of female attitude which can be seen before the chorus drops ‘you think I can get hurt like u, u mother F*****’.</span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; font-size: 13px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> </span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; font-size: 13px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; font-size: 13px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; font-size: 13px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Jessie J’s swagga has definitely been maximised by writing this tune, but lets not forget this Essex girl has got soul which can be seen in her song ‘who you are’ which was featured in the hit film Step up 3D. This girl has talent vocally and can switch it up at the same time to make a tune sound grimey and fresh. This tune has a more urban feel that can be heard in the Labyrinth remix, but a more soulful side can be seen by the acoustic version of the track.</span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; font-size: 13px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />

</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Who Owns My Heart is a Europe only release from Miley Cyrus. What insight can this song give us into American perceptions of European music, what does it say about American musicians, and most importantly, is it any good?</span></span></div><a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><object height="385" width="640"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/coqbx4C8z0o?fs=1&hl=en_GB"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/coqbx4C8z0o?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object></span></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">There's two sides to this track - the song and the video. Both have been aimed primarily at European charts (think UK, Germany and Eastern Europe). The video continues the sexier side we're seeing of Miley Cyrus with a few of the standard lesbian hints (a little bit of girl on girl grinding, nothing spectacular), and features locations that look more in place in perfume adverts than music videos. However, with bedroom scenes lifted straight from Cheryl Cole's recent videos, and club dancing seen in Cascada's work, this isn't exactly original.</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Half the outfits are little more contemporary than american music videos usually go for (ignore Gaga and Rihanna, they're aiming at Europe on a regular basis), and I guess this confirms the American perception that Europe is a little more open when it comes to fashion, both day to day and in featuring regular artists wearing couture items in videos. Nothing ground breaking, and a token gesture really, but it all counts.</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">When it comes to music, it's usually fairly easy to identify tracks intended for either american or european markets - the european charts are generally a lot quicker and are more dancey (remember the legal drinking age is 3 years higher in america, so the people that drive the chart sales (16-25) aren't listening to poppy dance tracks when they go out to clubs like they do here). So it's fairly obvious this song was going to be a little faster and more dance oriented (think synths) than a normal Miley release. With lyrics that remain ambiguous and vague, and rising tones to the chorus, this is typical dance music that the aforementioned Cascada would be proud of. </span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">So a valid effort at replicating european charts, but bringing nothing new to the table? Yes. Apart from one thing, which although seemingly too obvious to note, does have an effect - this is Miley Cyrus doing club music. Her voice is a little deeper and more sultry than most of the artists in this genre and gives the song it's uniqueness. Combined with a few flourishes that make Miley sound like Miley in all her songs, this track manages to sound just slightly different to what we've already got. Commendable, but let's face it, no one's gonna care about any of this when they hear it</span></span></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6691242998373070508.post-6759305877341705532010-11-07T14:49:00.000-08:002010-11-07T14:49:02.367-08:00Kelly Alyse from The Film Obsession is this Week's Guest Reviewer<div style="text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://meviomusic.mevio.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/justin-bieber.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://meviomusic.mevio.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/justin-bieber.gif" width="400" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">The child sensation that is Justin Bieber is coming to our screens, this time in 3D! I've done an analysis especially for <a href="http://whitenoisereviews.blogspot.com/">White Noise</a> showing whether this film is just fan made, or whether it may actually have credibility.</span></span></div><a name='more'></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br />

</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">We all know how Bieber started off, so the trailer begins with a home video clip - The main instigator for the sensation that is YouTube. By also featuring this clip shows that this biopic</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">is going to give us an intimate look at his life - That instantly attracts his already huge fan base. But the most interesting thing about this clip? It shows his talent at a very young age. Although this sensation (apparently) of a pop star has been on our screen for what seems years now, he's actually only 16. So the logical thing to do is create a film about his life, of course! I mean, we've had Nowhere Boy recently and Beatles were pretty big...</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Another video clip of him singing in a dingy, darkly lit room shows he worked so hard to get to where he is today. Look at those painted bricks! And then his most famous song kicks in (Baby) as the main theme running throughout the trailer. It's recognisable as his song yanking in more interest from fans. </span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">"They said it would never happen" - Another sign showing how hard he worked. A clip from his original video on YouTube filmed in his home that Usher discovered is then shown, linking in with the 'never happening' complex. "They said he would never make it" - Oh dear. He's playing piano now, enhancing his musical skills. "But you never stopped believing" - That's perfect for the audience. Now we're included in the film, and that's what every fan of his wants, to be a part of his life. Notice the focus on the word 'Never' because it's in the title and increases the hysteria at the end of the trailer.</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Now an age appropriate fan recognising she's been with him from the very beginning along with another home video clip. This film is not only going to connect with Bieber, but actually connect with the people that really have made him what he is today. </span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">We've hit the jackpot - It's scenes from his concert showing he did make it because we believed in him, which is a signal for an inspiring story this film could possibly be. A quick cut montage of access behind the scenes of the concert, dancing, working and just having fun is given. This is what fans of his want to see; a real look at his life. Not unofficial biographies or posters, but moving pictures of him when he's not there to look at on stage or screen. The quick images heighten your interest towards the film because it's only a glance, not a gaze. </span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br />

It also features Miley Cyrus according to <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1702443/">IMDB</a>, so even if you're not too fussed on him, it could be an interesting perspective as the people who actually work with him, or are also on our screens give an insight. I do have to point out, we're almost half way into this trailer now and haven't heard anything from the Biebster himself. This definitely isn't what the fans want!</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">But more clips from the same concert are given meaning we're going to be listening to his best hits! </span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">The emphasis on the word 'you' now seems to be apparent. This whole idea of us discovering him makes our concious feel good. We found this star, we knew he would be great, we believed in him and look at him now - Well done us! It's going to be a feel-good film. Again, words like "He came from a small town" juxtaposed with the image of New York shows he's really still him but working in a huge world, making him slightly vulnerable and ultimately more adorable to his fans. </span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">AND FINALLY WE HEAR HIS VOICE! It slows down as he walks so we can really look at him. But he's not facing the camera, he's looking away. We're not invited into the screen, but almost shunned. He's got the people behind him to back up his presence, making himself look more important. So by not gazing at the camera shows this is about him, not him telling the story. </span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">We see more clips of his concert, are told when the film will be released to build the hype and then the words "Get Closer" come onto the screen. This is what everybody going to see this film wants (unless you're being dragged as it comes out valentines weekend). He waves towards the handheld camera to come closer and looks into the camera with his hand pointing towards you. We're not shunned now, we're allowed to watch. He's no longer this shy character, he's wanting to invite you in. </span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">A mix of childhood clips and frustrated moments are combined with the words "Experience his world", so you know it's not only going to be good and present, but emotional and a full picture of his life. </span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Reactions from the gigantic audience this boy rakes in and the words "In 3D" appear meaning it'll be like you're at the concert. So, for all the girls who haven't seen him yet, this will be best chance yet. </span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">And finally, the music stops and the words spoken from a truly inspirational(?) boy state:</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">There's going to be times where people tell you that you can't </span></div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">live your dreams. This is what I tell them: (Camera pans round </span></div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">dramatically with intense music) Never say never!</span></div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></span></div></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">It's typical of the movie. We're offerend a huge star, the title is his saying and it enhances this "If you believe it will happen" mentality. Plus, with the emphasis on the word 'never' before increases the impact this speech has.</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">So, is this fan made or is it genuinely going to be an enjoyable documentary? It's highly driven on the fan basis, because he is one of the biggest stars at the moment. People either love him or hate him, but everybody knows who he is. However, having the focus of people who work with him and little input from his voice in the trailer, I imagine it will be quite an interesting story on its own. It'll top the charts purely on the way it will be distributed (and maybe because he has crazy, hormonal teens following him), but lets hope it has some credit to top the charts with. </span></span><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">If you like ghostly, minimalistic, ambient Dubstep-esque music then you’ve come to the right place. The sound on the fourth EP from James Blake “Kalveirwerke is as if; Thom Yorke and super producer Burial had a love child who made music. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><a name='more'></a><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">A haunting minimal sound is the main theme for this EP with the title track “Kalveirwerke” taking it’s time its own time to build up, and for the beat to come in, with a long, airy instrumental. The hauntingly, ghostly tune, made more so with eerie samples (to great effect), is kicked into a little more life when the beat snaps in. At the Dubstep standard of 140 beats per minute on every track it seems like the way forward for James Blake whose unique sound is reaching a lot of DJ’s in the UK at the moment. The Tentative piano playing on “don’t you think I do” sends a chill down your spine, and is a reoccurring theme on this EP with the feeling of hesitant softness in the tracks. This hesitance is often aided with the emptiness of the music; the minimalist sound which is driven by the simple drum beats and unsettling distorted samples. Not a lot can really compare to the amount of ambiance that these songs project; echoing here and there but still feeling full and edgy, the kind of music you would hear at midnight in a pitch black forest. Musically this is beautiful but somewhat monotonous piece at times as it does tend to drag here and there, with the length of tracks and the dark undertone becoming slightly overbearing. Overall I would say this is innovation at its highest and that you need to watch out for James Blake; he’s on to big things and this is only the beginning. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;"><div style="text-align: center;">Back again for round 2! Skrillex picks up the pace and brings more of the bass, but this time round he’s got a few more friends to help him out and the sound is amplified to the max!</div></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;"><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div></div><a name='more'></a><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;"><div style="text-align: center;">On the second EP the theme of Scary monsters and nice spirits is played out through the tracks with Monstrous, violent samples heavier baselines than before and then the supreme contrast with the slightly pop dance anthems added into the mix. “Rock N’ Roll” kicks us off with a more usual electro dance route samples, synths, drum beats and all with the added element of Baltimore clap. Something changes halfway through the track as you can feel the dubstep inspired base drop and the realization becomes clear that this is going to be a bit more different than the first EP. The Dubstep and the “Scary monsters” element comes back into play when “Bare noise” and “foreign beggars” get involved on the track “Scatta”; a Violent Heavy base filled mashup of monstrous proportions using angry samples and thumping drum and synth beats. The spitting on each verse goes hand in hand with the pounding beat before each base drop to break up the heaviness and keeps the track flowing.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><object height="385" width="640"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/yEvN_lxDj-Q?fs=1&hl=en_US&color1=0x234900&color2=0x4e9e00"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/yEvN_lxDj-Q?fs=1&hl=en_US&color1=0x234900&color2=0x4e9e00" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object></div><br />
This is a by far the most welcomed progression in the Skrillex sound, as he’s maintained his identity with this track yet still managing to break out into the new Dubstep genre, making it his own. The nice spirits theme is explored in the track “with your friends (long drive)” and “all I ask of you” the former leading with a beautiful piano melody which carries a nostalgic dance theme along with ease. Skrillex is Back and this time he has grown more into himself on this EP bringing a larger than life sound that is so addictive and a showing his versatility and diversity whilst still sticking to what he is good at. The best is yet to come and I for one am eagerly looking forward to an album, because to be completely honest, he is the future. </div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div style="text-align: center;">My name is Skrillex is an introduction or a birth even, of one of the newest players in the electronic/Dance scene. Skrillex aka Sonny John Moore brings the noise with his highly charged brand of elctro dance in this his first EP.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a>A Breath of fresh air on the Dance genre and as unique as an egg with three yolks this EP is definitely the beginning of something amazing and new. Rock,electro and dance infused, justice and Deadmaus inspired this has everything an electro-head would want! The six rounds of sheer energy that are on this come out fast and furious with real power and electricity, I mean if you like noise then you are going to love this!<br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><object height="340" width="560"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/I13f6TTYKWw?fs=1&hl=en_US&color1=0x402061&color2=0x9461ca"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/I13f6TTYKWw?fs=1&hl=en_US&color1=0x402061&color2=0x9461ca" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object></div><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;">Starting with the first track “my name is Skrillex” we go straight in with the electronic sampling and beats, reminiscent of crystal castles, which are then switched up into a guitar riff which leads into a justice inspired body shaking beat. Electro dance never sounded so good. With such a loud and proud sound the song and the rest EP moves on in the same way keeping your head nodding and feet tapping. Baltimore clap is effectively infused in “weekend”, the second track of the album, along with a lot of what I like to call a lot of “womping” and drumbeats which carry the sound along. Tracks like “With your friends” show that skrillex is not a one trick pony with a softer approach with more sythasizers and less hard beats, more reminicient of summer dance anthems. Drums, synths, guitars and samples are the main “instruments” used to great effect with a definite “Skrillex sound that is carried through all the tracks making a mark. However this EP is a little limited with; a similar and not AS diverse sound that there could be whilst still keep an identity. This does not take away from this EP in the slightest, being the first it is absolutely amazing by any standard and definitely marks the way for our newest player in dance.</div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;"><br />

</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The answer is an almost unanimous Yes. And not due to any forms of post mortem puppetry, I hasten to add - for this song features the soon to be infamous 'Dirty Bit'. The almost trancey chorus is a nice hands up mouths open affair, but that soon transcends into horrific floor touching and dick swinging during the heavier sections of the song. With attention keeping rap interruptions, the repetitive beat doesn't get boring, and instead allows for easy dancing that even Frances 'baby' Houseman could pick up quickly.</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />

In a genre more packed than Johnny Castle's tight trousers, it's hard for a group to stay at the head of the game as consistently as the Black Eyed Peas, but they've done it and moved the game on, just so you can enjoy singing about having the time of your life into eachothers' sweaty faces.</span></span></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6691242998373070508.post-71897028627504558602010-10-21T08:18:00.000-07:002010-10-21T08:24:14.894-07:00Insatiable Appetite For Violence<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v494/Jetred5/NadineInsatiable.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v494/Jetred5/NadineInsatiable.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br />

</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Needless to say, this new single from Nadine needs to be pretty good or she'll have egg all over her face - and that's just not kosher. <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px;">The latest album from Avenged Sevenfold, marred by the death of drummer Jimmy 'The Rev' Sullivan, was released this Summer. Have they kept the formula that drove them to success?</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: small;"></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: small;"></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: small;"><a name='more'></a></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; font-size: 13px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">First up, I should make it clear that I am a massive Avenged Sevenfold (aka A7x) fan. I’ve pretty much always followed my rule that if a song has great guitar in it, I’ll like it, and regardless of vocals. Vocals are obviously important, but I can put them to the side and focus on the music. With Avenged Sevnfold’s first album, this was a big plus. It might go with the genres of music I like, but screaming isn’t my thing.</span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; font-size: 13px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> </span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; font-size: 13px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; font-size: 13px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; font-size: 13px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Fortunately, as the band has matured, so has their music. Screaming is no longer the focus in the vocals, and I find this means that when it is used, the kick you get out of it is more intense. To this end, the 5 seconds of screaming in Natural born Killer are far more effective that any of the screaming found on Sounding The Seventh Trumpet (the band’s first album), and God Hates Us (the song with the most aggressive vocals and lyrics) stands out as the obvious MoshAlongSong™. That said, my favourite song on Nightmare is probably Buried Alive.</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; font-size: 13px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><object height="385" width="640"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/6PRfDJQY_Y8?fs=1&hl=en_GB"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/6PRfDJQY_Y8?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; font-size: 13px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></span></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; font-size: 13px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Perhaps reminiscent of Metallica at their best, Buried Alive starts with a clean guitar, which is soon joined by a gentle lead. After 51 seconds, the song is unmistakably trademark Avenged Sevenfold with Synyster Gates and Zacky V. providing a fantastic section of harmony guitar. The song continues to build in energy from this point on and I would encourage you to check out this video of my little brother playing the first of two solos from the song:</span></span><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; font-size: 13px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; font-size: 13px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><div style="text-align: center;"><object height="385" width="480"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Ia2HlO3_PY4?fs=1&hl=en_GB"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Ia2HlO3_PY4?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object></div></span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; font-size: 13px;"><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; font-size: 13px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The song Fiction deserves a special mention. Written by the late Jimmy ‘The Rev’ Sullivan, he completed the recording of the vocals just before his death. With this in mind, his lyrics are particularly haunting as they foretell his death. The piano in this song is also spine-chilling and I hope that A7X continue to use piano/organ in any future albums. Welcome To The Family is my second favourite song; just after purchasing the album I went for a bike ride and it’s one of those songs that gets the adrenalin running; you just feel pumped and ready to go all the way through it. </span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; font-size: 13px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; font-size: 13px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The final song on the album, Save Me runs close to 11 minutes, yet manages to maintain the energy built up from the previous 10 songs. A7X are happy to experiment and mess around in different genres and that comes through most clearly in this song, which like A little Piece of Heaven from their previous album, is quite unlike anything they’ve produced before. I hadn’t intended to mention so many songs individually when I started typing, but this is testament to the fact that there are no fillers in this album. So Far Away is a heartfelt farewell written by Gates, for his lost friend Jimmy. The song starts off innocently enough, and appears to be ‘just another gentle song from a metal band’. However, the combination of the lyrics in the chorus, and the solo following the breakdown, for me at least, made the song really touching.</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; font-size: 13px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; font-size: 13px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">For anyone with a remote interest in this kind of music, I’d say this album is well worth a listen. Unlike Disturbed who continue to produce the same trademark sound, Avenged Sevenfold keep in touch with their routes whilst exploring new directions.</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; font-size: 13px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />

</div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;">BLAM! <div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;">The two things you firstly pick up on, is the diversity and the ample energy of the album, as the tracks come through thick, fast and varied. Tracks like “Famalam” which has an electronic feel reminiscent of crystal castles are put with “It’s not a long ting” (featuring Tempa T) which has a Definite Dubstep aspect to it; quite similar to the sort of sound Skream wound be producing just a year ago, or for his previous album, <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>emphasizes the variety.</div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrmiw32jU2CTztTUA3wj8dTjzs4QnJWfIp_-gZxS1dy2i1rfrDkIraFHwpA4AvCoAOun257xUBbWuxWZQDJATU-SSnsd4LPrCbd2szxt2VuYXgNDft0OqryxWSKfxacz9Qz8BiBf-8cA8/s1600/0000854661_500.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrmiw32jU2CTztTUA3wj8dTjzs4QnJWfIp_-gZxS1dy2i1rfrDkIraFHwpA4AvCoAOun257xUBbWuxWZQDJATU-SSnsd4LPrCbd2szxt2VuYXgNDft0OqryxWSKfxacz9Qz8BiBf-8cA8/s200/0000854661_500.jpg" width="200" /></a>The album starts off with head banger “Darker” (featuring Trigger) and picks up the pace with Anthems like; “Your CD’s Dead” and “Hospital”. “Hospital”, featuring some of boy better know, mainly uses a sample taken from the Prodigy’s “Take me to the hospital” from their “invaders must die album”. A concept that, on paper, doesn’t sound like it would work as well, as it has on this track. The good use sampling, combined with the energetic beats and varied styles of spitting; effortlessly come together to make it sound as good if not better than the original. The single “Your CD is dead” is also an immediate anthem; featuring Tempa T of next hype fame, providing a break beat/ two-step crossover with grime which has a popular feel.</div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;">Features from Tempa T on two of the tracks, Trigga, some of BBK (Boy Better Know), Wiley and others definitely enhances the album and takes nothing away from JME himself but does do well to break up hearing him on every track. JME has his own style to his Spitting which is quite different to many other Grime MC’s, being very clear, direct and precise whilst still having a lot of energy and ability to still ride the fast paced beats and this really appeals to most especially those who do not usually listen to grime.</div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;"><o:p><br />
</o:p></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;">This is progressive Grime; JME is actually moving this genre forward keeping it fresh, current and relevant. Having said this; baselines are hard and are the main emphasis of the record coming thick and heavy on many of the tracks, suggesting the intent for the tracks to be used on more of a club stage as opposed to personal listening. A lot of base does beg the question if there is a big dubstep <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>influence on this record; due to the newly found popularity in this genre. The beats however sometimes feel a little empty, with not a lot of rhythm, and there could be more to make some tracks more complete. That could be seen as a drawback, but the way that JME spits; clear and concise, it’s like you wouldn’t like the beats to be too complex as you want to hear what he’s saying. I think this album is high class and definitely a progressive grime record, with a lot of mind-blowing tracks full of diversity, to which we can fully anticipate more to come, from one of grime’s constant top performers. BLAM!!!</div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;"><br />

When Deadmau5 tells you to check out an EP from a new and fairly unknown band you kinda think two things<br />
1) Shameless plug<br />
2) He may be on to a good thing<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjo8D3G_m0HRXtNFR7DiiykI8dwKtLdtRpwPW50FwozAw4dM5SzAQ7uzEflgopbcz0Ylm_rBD9vrRV0m_WW1q6EM8IBihMgznOMGQfWs5BHNksC0OBeHHqf9x9baJ0nn8xT0uJuJfJAqIA/s1600/How+to+destroy+angels.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="199" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjo8D3G_m0HRXtNFR7DiiykI8dwKtLdtRpwPW50FwozAw4dM5SzAQ7uzEflgopbcz0Ylm_rBD9vrRV0m_WW1q6EM8IBihMgznOMGQfWs5BHNksC0OBeHHqf9x9baJ0nn8xT0uJuJfJAqIA/s200/How+to+destroy+angels.jpg" width="200" /></a>How to destroy angels is the aptley self titled EP of the new post industiral band of the same name, and is is available as a free download from their website. HTDA are comprised of; Nine Inch Nails front man Trent Reznor, his wife Mariqueen Maandig and Atticus Ross, however the slightly sinister sounding EP is not too far removed from the nine inch nails' sound which may prove as either an asset or a liability. As Trent is not singing on the record, the softer vocals provided by his wife give the more hypnotic airy sound and fits perfectly against the hard electronic instrumental. The heavy use of samples and programming may make you think this EP is completely "robotic" in nature, however the "organic" music aspect always comes through especially in the track "fur lined. As an EP it is good, but i would not feel compelled to listen to all of it, in one go; as the record begins to get dark and monotonous thus sounding depressing when played continually. However saying that, there are a few damn good tracks in the form of; "fur lined", "parasite" and "BBB", which would definately make this a must download for anyone. I enjoyed listening to this piece of art, however dark it may feel, and am excited for this new band to progress and hopefully make and album. Hopefully not as dark but still edgy.<br />

</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Released 26th July - Praise and Blame is Tom Jones' triumphant return to the industry. Originally rejected by his new record label on the grounds of the shitness of the album's concept, Tommy boy went ahead and dropped it with someone else.</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"></span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><a name='more'></a></span></span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><object height="385" width="480"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/R3-2oAzJ_h0?fs=1&hl=en_GB"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/R3-2oAzJ_h0?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">An album based around prayers set to music? Shit</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">An album showing off Jones' still powerful voice and unmistakable charm? Good</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">The calculator puts this album at average, however, my initial impressions place it a little better off. Imagine this as a late Johnny Cashesque summation of Tom Jones' presence on this planet - it's hugely self obsessed, with simple, strong drum beats and minimalistic musical backing, with the entire focus on the vocals. This would usually be an irritation, but Praise and Blame pulls it off; Jones is allowed to be self obsessed, purely from his lifetime achievement. Think non-racist, polite Kanye West in 30 years time.</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">This album represents the pinnacle of Jones' career, with this being his reflective attempt at laying bare as a human being in the eyes of the lord, and more importantly, us. Although plain and essentially boring initially, once you get into the album, setting aside the concept and accepting the songs for what they mean, the musical talent becomes clear, despite the simplicity. When listening in it's entirety, considering the reason for Jones making such an album, as mentioned above, it's easy to be absorbed in the melancholy pondering of it all.</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br />

Magnetic man what can i say!! As we all know i am a massive fan of the ol' magnetic man, especially since i love skream and benga, but this little preview from their forthcoming album has got me salivating at the mouth!<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
I mean just when i thought this summer could not get any better, i hear this new cross-between drum and bass and Dubstep track coming fresh from YouTube. This new track "Perfect Stranger" features Katy B on the vocals and definitely confirms Magnetic man as an act to more than watch out for. This definitely brings about great expectations from the album but also signals that with the variety of tracks they have the quality of each is outstanding. I'm simply blown away to be completely honest. As a huge fan of drum and bass and of Dubstep this track truly makes me believe that the future of these genres are in safe hands.<br />

The video below was uploaded a few days ago on You Tube by Regal a rapper from Atlanta Georgia, who's currently got a new single out called "<a href="http://limelinx.com/files/c7c2eb4b4f1906557ce58df170e9121f">Ice cream Parlor</a>". The young rapper (only 23) is seen here busting out a freestyle in the parking lot, over a couple of beats to promote the new single.<br />

His confidence and little bit of cockiness definitely comes out in his rapping; he rides all the beats effortlessly, with a laid back approach but by switching the flow he keeps you entertained constantly. He's Already brought out two Mixtapes: Class Clowns and The Sitcom (which you can get respectively <a href="http://indy.livemixtapes.com/mixtapes/11428/da_kid_regal_class_clowns.html">here</a> and <a href="http://indy.livemixtapes.com/mixtapes/11226/regal_the_sitcom.html">here</a>) and the new single is available to stream and download below. All i do say is WATCH THIS SPACE!! (preferably the Myspace: <a href="http://www.myspace.com/thisisregal">http://www.myspace.com/thisisregal</a> ) and look out for him and all his new releases, i'm a big fan and i think he's on to winner here with great material and not even onto a album yet!<br />

Two of the Hottest rappers out here right now J.Cole and Drake on a Mixtape together!! wow!<br />
Evil empire present "Drake & J.Cole - Cream of the Crop" A collaboration of two of the newest titans in hip hop on this FREE Mixtape. If you have been living under a rock (or just not into rap and hip hop) then you will want to get a hold of this.<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
Both rappers have the uncanny ability to rap in a slightly self conscious manner, making you empathize with them as the subject matter is quite varied and personal.<br />
I know what you're thinking sympathizing with rappers who are probably making more money than me?? well I personally like the way their not taking the usual root of; either flashing their money and "power" in your face/ cussing other rappers/ talking about how hard life was for them when nobody has a perfect life.<br />
<br />
Their flows differ slightly with J Cole being faster and a bit more Skippy whilst drake still bounces over the tracks but has the smoother more melodic side in his locker. Both rappers, however, ride each and every beat in their own way; owning the track and definitely letting you know they are the best of the rest.<br />
<br />
Compiled of some of each of their greatest hits so far, this is definitely something to download if you're new to either of these artists (or been living under a rock) or a big fan of either or both. This is a Definite Download for sure...<br />

</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The video was inspired, according to director Ethan Lader, by artist </span></span><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/iri5"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Erika Iris Simmons</span></span></a><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> and matches the simple nature of the song, whilst remaining interesting. The lyrics are predictable and not exactly complex, but unfortunately for all us Alpha males, they are sickeningly loved up. Mars' voice here is, as expected, perfect for the song, with his nice boy image making his words almost believable. It's difficult not to get caught up in the effortless romance of the song, and difficult to not get lost in Bruno's oh so beautiful smile, and this leads to a great solo debut.</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Mars has played the charts well - making a name for himself on collaborations with recognised rappers, allowing his debut to be dead cert for success. Expect a No.1 (in the UK at least)</span></span></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6691242998373070508.post-50482836940450678212010-09-09T14:56:00.000-07:002010-09-10T17:48:53.770-07:00I Just Need a Homie<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqm48Lw_ox1Ll9_Mg6M3xZAaBKTSsBekhJCKj7ZhLUtrJ3SG83tkeDJ7wWNOX5cRxrm252w_0udYQRF4RJnYz_1SJjRtmAW4cs8DuA-BjYWNPA7SP8r6nwqYGPhh6t7dqhIK2_qUsrxBw/s1600/ndubz.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="331" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqm48Lw_ox1Ll9_Mg6M3xZAaBKTSsBekhJCKj7ZhLUtrJ3SG83tkeDJ7wWNOX5cRxrm252w_0udYQRF4RJnYz_1SJjRtmAW4cs8DuA-BjYWNPA7SP8r6nwqYGPhh6t7dqhIK2_qUsrxBw/s400/ndubz.jpg" width="400" /></span></span></a></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />

Dappy provides the familiar, somewhat internally warming, delivery that we've come to expect, with Tulisa filling out the choruses in a way that she's got to be bored of by now. Fazer's the real star here though - having been steadily increasing his airtime across the past few songs and showcasing his talents as a competent rapper in the latter third of this track. Without the characteristic voice/attitude of Dappy or the curves of Tulisa, Fazer's struggled to create his own identity, but with this latest conquest, hopefully his skills will be utilised more and more, as a further dimension for the N-Dubz future.</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />

Well, Jay Z has used to shape past successes. Rihanna's been showing off her voice as of late on tracks like Love the Way You Lie and Russian Roulette, but unfortunately this new venture seems to have left that aside, in favour of a more club friendly format; with repetitive lines and beats, punctured by buzzing synths. Sounding more like a shit cover of Kelly Rowland/David Guetta massive, <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dwfKZ-1jyiw">Commander</a>, of which I was a big fan, you're left with the impression that future Rihannal music is paving a path of easily remixable tracks for club DJs to play to our dancing ears.</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br />
